Surfing Roots

Olas International™ was born in Peru and established in Hawaii in 1983 and take pride in our waveriding heritage. There has been a lot of discussion in the past few years on the origins of surfing and surfings roots.

The first recorded documentation of surfing was by Captain Cook in Hawaii in the 1800s. Being averse to the sea themselves, they were amazing to see locals riding the waves on longbaords hewn from trees. But recent discoveries over the past few years are shedding light on the origins of boardriding by early Peruvians over 2,000 years ago....
